Oh Dear, Better Blog!

Sorry faithful blog-stalkers for neglecting!
We have been out of town for 2 weekends in a row, headed for the third this weekend!
We have been to the beach (see below), I went to the Beth Moore conference and Scott has managed to work a gazzillion hours in the last 2 weeks (well, more like 160 hours).

So I'll start off with the Beth Moore thing. It was good, but I was really tired and felt like I didn't really get connected....something about 20,000 women in one place... But alas, I did learn a lot from Pricilla and I really enjoyed the panel discussion with Pricilla, Beth and Kay. It was nice to spend a little more time with Steph, Amanda and Laura...girls I love, but don't get to spend a lot of time with.

Speaking of Beth Moore, I am doing her study on the Psalms of Ascent, as previously mentioned, and I have been reflecting on this today: (a quote from Beth's Stepping Up, quoting Eugene Peterson)
"'We are not presented with a functional god who will help us out of jams or and entertainment god who will lighten our tedious hours. We are presented with the God of exodous and Easter, the God of Sinai and Calvary. If we want to understand God, we must do it on His terms. If we want to see God the way He really is, we must look to the place of authority-to Scripture and Jesus Christ.'"
How often do I treat the God of the universe like a help-line? How often do I act like it's my right to to be happy in life, when I do not turn my face toward Him? How many times to I think of Him on human terms, when He is infinately more than we can imagine, yet reveals Himself to me in Scripture? (that I neglect to read).

Hm. Interesting stuff to ponder.

Other things of note this week: we are going to see Peyton this weekend in Tennesee!!! Yay! we have missed her so much! And we are going whitewater rafting! Yep, you did hear me correctly...Ree will be sorta outdoorsy this weekend! I have been rafting, but that was in high school, so we will see...I remember it being really fun though! Now if I can just find something to wear...
